We are delighted to announce our upcoming Art & Community Open House on Sunday, September 20, 2026, and we invite you to share your creativity with our community.
This special event will showcase artwork created by temple members and friends, providing an opportunity to celebrate beauty, creativity, and our shared community. Whether you are an experienced artist or simply enjoy creative expression, we warmly encourage you to participate.
Submission Guidelines
We welcome a variety of creative works, including:
• Paintings and drawings
• Photography
• Calligraphy
• Poetry and short stories
• Other original creative works
Visual Art
• Drawings and photographs should be no larger than 16″ × 20″ (maximum 20″ × 20″).
• To help protect your work during display, we ask that photographs and drawings be submitted in frames whenever possible.
• Paintings may be displayed on the walls if they are framed and ready to hang.
Poetry and Short Stories
• Written works may be submitted for inclusion in a community booklet.
• Authors may also choose to share an excerpt from their work during the opening gathering.
Important Dates
To help us plan the exhibition, please let us know by June 30, 2026, if you plan to submit artwork.
Final artwork submissions will be accepted through August 16, 2026.
If you would like to participate, please send the following information to nyc@wonbuddhism.org:
• Your name
• Title of the artwork
• Medium (photography, watercolor, acrylic, calligraphy, poetry, etc.)
• Dimensions (for visual artwork)
• A brief description or artist statement (optional)
In our practice, spiritual cultivation is not limited to meditation or study. Creativity can also be a meaningful way to express awareness and share our unique gifts with the world.
Whether you choose to share your creative work or simply attend, we hope you will join us in making this gathering a joyful celebration of art, community, and inspiration.
